Mt. Abram sets new season record!

On Thursday, March 26th, Mt Abram Resort in Greenwood reported setting a single season ticket sales record with two weeks remaining in new owner, Matt Hancock’s 1st season of ownership. All three areas of ticket sales: season passes, group sales, and daily tickets are up over the previous high set in 2005. Mt Abram’s closing date is scheduled for Sunday, April 5th. Saturday the 4th, the Resort will be holding its 1st Annual White Grass Festival, a celebration of day-long music, skiing and “decking” with music presented by the resorts best bands of the year. Music starts at 12:00.

Lanco Assembly Systems, a high-tech manufacturer of Automated Assembly and Test systems, continues to develop and engineer world-class manufacturing systems. Recent contracts received include systems for Lexmark, which will launch in Singapore, and Covidien in North Haven, CT for a new medical product which has recently attained FDA approval.

In addition, Lanco has recently opened facilities in Hong Kong and Shanghai to support its worldwide customer base and continued growth here in Maine.

After 23 years in business, local realtor sets new record in 1st quarter

With interest rates at a 40-year low, and the election over, John Hatcher of Keller Williams Realty says: “Since the new year we have seen an uptick in the market. I have just put my 22nd property under contract in 2009 (a record in my 23 years in the business) and we have had 4 properties close with 100% financing in the last 4 months. And now we are seeing multiple offers on properties.”

Portland Museum of Art Sets Record Attendance

Portland Museum of Art has discovered that there’s nothing like a little rock ‘n roll to bring in the crowds. The museum drew a record 17,839 visitors in February, thanks to the popularity of its exhibition “Backstage Pass: Rock & Roll Photography.” The figure broke the mark set by an Ansel Adams exhibition in 2000. 25th Annual Celebration Dinner nets EQME over $25,000!

Saturday, April 21st, EQME (Equality Maine) held its annual dinner honoring volunteers, board members and supporting organizations. The program was presented to a sold-out house of 600 attendees at the Holiday Inn by the Bay. Midway through the evening, a fund-raising request was made for every person in the room to donate $25 to meet the organization’s goal of $12,000. Thirty minutes later, they not only had met their goal, but had exceeded it to the hefty tune of $25,000!

Cheers to EQME, Maine’s only statewide advocacy organization for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.
