Local companies continue looking to a brighter future!

The Boulos Company has just released the following list of local companies that are on the move, either leasing space, renewing a lease or buying.

  • Cutting Edge Wireless, Inc. has sub-leased 1,645 sq ft of retail space at 35 Bridge Street, Gardiner, Maine from One Source Wireless, LLC. Cutting Edge Wireless will operate a cellular telephone sales & service business.
  • Stanford Management, LLC has leased 3,620 sq ft of office space in the Nathan Winslow Block at 245 Commercial Street, Portland.
  • Maine Eye Center, PA has leased 9,983 sq ft of medical office space at Stroudwater Crossing, 1685 Congress Street, Portland.
  • Maine Health has acquired property located at 14 Sawyer Road, Scarborough, Maine. The property abuts the Orion Center property previously acquired by MaineHealth. The Sawyer Road property is a natural addition to the Orion Center parcel and will become part of the overall development.
  • NH Bragg has renewed its lease of 6,500 sq ft of warehouse space at 17 Patrick Drive, Westbrook.
  • MaineTransNet has leased 556 sq ft of office space at 640 Brighton Avenue, Portland.
  • Northeast Hearing & Speech Center, Inc., a community based speech and hearing center, has leased 7,600 sq ft of office/therapy space in the Match Star building at 81 West Commercial Street, Portland.

Port City Life magazine has been acquired by the publishers of Maine Home+Design. At a time when print media continue to get slammed, here is some good news. These two beautifully designed publications are now going to be housed under one roof. The editorial, design, and sales teams will remain separate, so readers can still look forward to the distinctive look, feel, and personalities of their monthly editions of Maine Home+Design and Port City Life. Laurie Hyndman will continue to lead the Port City Life team as managing editor, while Kevin Thomas and Susan Kelley will oversee both publications. Distribution of each magazine will top 30,000 this summer.

Hall Web Services takes off!

In November, Hall Web Services expanded and moved their office to a 5600 sq ft facility on Riverside Street. Since the start of the year, they’ve added five new employees in social network marketing, email marketing and internet marketing roles: Kelly Samson, Ian Robbins, Andre McKay, Kyle Pouliot, and Scott Gaw. Sales are up 44%, and based on this momentum, they plan to add four more staff members by the end of the year. Growth has been primarily in web development, internet marketing and social network marketing services.

According to owner, Paul Lawrence, Home Project Partners (HPP), a free-to-use, Greater Portland-based contractor referral service continues to grow even in these tough economic times! HHP stays with their clients throughout their home projects to help ensure its success. Lawrence says that his business has thrived specifically as a result of the economy being in such turmoil. “Your home is your most valuable asset and you don’t want to hire just anyone to work on it.”

Port Hole deck reports biggest opening night ever!

Third generation family business expands

Estabrook’s Farm & Greenhouses in Yarmouth announced plans to open a third location in Kennebunk. The new location will be the company’s second Estabrook’s Color Spot seasonal garden center, and will feature a variety of annual and perennial plants, as well as shrubs, mulch and gardening supplies. The site is the current home of Maples Garden Center, 97 York Street, and the new Estabrook’s will open April 25th.

There’s a new website in Portland called www.whatsthesoup.net This site lists daily soup specials at local restaurants in Portland. For customers visiting the site it allows quick daily access to updated information about available soups in the area. For restaurants, if deflects unnecessary phone traffic, generates visibility and leads to more business.

Local TV station is nominated for Gold!

WPXT-TV  has been nominated for three regional Emmy awards in the 2009 competition, the most of any Maine TV station. The Emmy categories were in: Best Environmental Program, Best Public Service Announcement, and Advanced Media.
The competition is open to all New England television stations and producers and will be held in Boston on May 30th.

Bath Savings helps Yarmouth nonprofits!

With each new checking account opened at their Yarmouth branch, Bath Savings will donate $25 to one of three nonprofit organizations: Yarmouth Arts, Village Improvement Society or Yarmouth Historical Society.

DiMillo’s Marina looking for best year EVER!

DiMillo’s Marina reports that it currently has 16 NEW tenants, the most in over 13 years, and they are anticipating there will be a wait list.
According to manager, Sarah Foshay, this summer is looking great, with more transient reservations than last year at this time. She also says DiMillo’s has the largest yacht club reservation ever (the Boston Yacht Club) staying with them for two nights in July.
